Meet Katara
If Lucy is the madam and Thanos is the gentle giant, Katara is pure chaos wrapped in spots. She is always extra, always busy and absolutely impossible not to love.

Our very own baby raptor
Katara belongs to our eldest son, Bernard, and she is the complete opposite of Lucy and Thanos. We affectionately call her our ADHD Dane, because there always seems to be something happening wherever Katara is.
She digs holes. She chews things. She steals food from the counter. And the best part is that she will quite happily do it while you are standing there looking directly at her.
There is no pretending she did not do it. No shame. No regret. Just Katara being Katara.
She has an incredible ability to make you furious and then, a little while later, come over with that face and somehow convince you that the favourite table she just chewed was probably overrated anyway.
Life according to Katara
Furniture included. Sentimental value is apparently not a recognised concept.
Height is not much of a security system when you live with a Great Dane.
Katara is completely entitled to lie on top of you whenever she chooses.
Put one foot on her while she is lying on your bed and prepare to hear exactly how unfairly she is being treated.
Chaos, cuddles & absolutely no boundaries
Katara's photos capture both sides perfectly — the affectionate baby who wants to be on top of her person and the Dane who always needs to know what is happening.

The surprise supermom
With Katara's permanently busy personality, none of us were quite sure what to expect when she became a mother.
She surprised every one of us.
Katara had a beautiful litter of six puppies, and from the beginning she was an excellent mother. She looked after her babies incredibly well and showed us a completely different side of her personality.
Underneath all that energy, mischief and chaos is a very loving dog — and watching her care for her puppies made us even more proud of her.
Beautiful babies
Katara's first litter brought six beautiful puppies into the Ankers Great Danes family.
For the dog we call the baby raptor, she turned out to be a wonderfully attentive and caring mom.
“She can steal your food, dig up the garden and chew your favourite table — then come and lie on top of you until you forgive her.”
That is Katara. She is naughty, affectionate, dramatic, endlessly entertaining and completely loved. Life would probably be quieter without her — but we wouldn't want it that way.
